Reducing Your Teen’s Avoidance

Reducing Your Teen’s Avoidance

Often, teens avoid going back to the place or places where they experienced having a panic attack, afraid that the uncomfortable physical sensations will come back. Although understandable, avoidance only worsens anxiety and increases the chances of your teen to experience more anxiety attacks.

Teen anxiety therapies encourage gradual reintroduction to each stressful situation, starting from the least provoking then moving on to more stressful conditions.

There are several other holistic therapies that you and your teen can work through, like:

  • Exercise
  • Meditation
  • Relaxation exercises
  • Writing
  • Aromatherapy

There is also an option for group therapy sessions where your child can openly share their experiences with other people of their age who have tried or are still experiencing the same conditions as they are.

If your teen is not comfortable with a group setting, there is always the option of individualized psychotherapy, where they may have one-on-one sessions with our professional counselors who can help them through their journey.

Teen Anxiety is dedicated to providing our clients with quality mental health services and help them through hard times. For more information or to book an assessment, you may contact our office here.
